At 10:43 am this morning, Mom had another seizure. She was at home with dad and they were just getting ready to go out to run a few errands. The aid was at the house, she had just helped mom with her shower and getting dressed and was headed out the door when mom yelled for dad and told the aid that she was feeling funny. The aid was able to get her over to the bed and laid her down. Dad called me at work and I flew home. Mom is ok - it was a mild seizure. Mom's RN was to the house at about 11:15 am. All of mom's vitals are good and she is now resting comfortably this afternoon.
More seizures are expected but they too should be fairly mild as mom is on an anti-seizure medication and still on the steroids which help drain the fluids off the brain. As the tumor in the brain grows, mom will experience seizures - nothing as scary as her original seizure she had in St. George. I am also equipped with a liquid medication that I can squirt into her mouth when mom does experience a seizure - this medication will instantly calm her. It won't stop the seizure but it'll calm her mind so that she isn't panicking and let her body work through the seizure. This medication was a big help today.
