Update on Travis Wall:

Wahoo!!! Miracles DO happen - I'm a firm believer in miracles. Travis woke up today. The doctors started decreasing the paralytic medicine last night and started lowering the sedation medication this morning and around 2:00 pm today - Travis woke up! He was unfamiliar with his surrounds and tried to talk but couldn't because of the trac tube. He became very frustrated but Rebecca was able to talk with him and got him calmed down to where they could talk with him and he would respond by squeezing her hand - once for yes, twice for no. He wanted to know what happened because he does not have a memory of the accident. Rebecca started by recounting the day and working up to the accident. When she told him that Emily was with him, Travis just started to cry and cry but Rebecca told him that she was ok, not without injury, but she was healing and was home with his parents. She asked Travis if he wanted her to continue and he squeezed her hand yes so she began with his head injuries and worked down through the body stopping every now and then to ask if he wanted her to continue. He did and she finally got to the amputation of his right leg. Tears streamed from his eyes uncontrollably but he remained calm. They shut off the ventilater and let him breath on his own for about 8 minutes. He got really tired so the ventilater came back on. They will continue this practice until he is strong enough to breath on his own. His parents and his siblings were able to visit with Travis today as well. All in all, it's been a good day. He has lots of hard work ahead of him but we are all so very grateful that he is awake. The doctors are hoping to set and wire his jaw on Friday.
