Update on Mom:

Mom has had a really good week so far. She has regained a lot of her strength and is able to walk around pretty much on her own. I am still close at hand as I don't want her to take a fall. Her eye sight seems to still be off a bit, especially on her left side (which is her good eye). Her depth perception is off and she tends to bump into doors, walls, chairs, etc. It's sort of funny to watch her eat - she will be aiming for her meat and get her glass and then she just laughs and laughs and tries it again. Day by day this has also improved. Her appetite is really good right now - must be the steroids.

Mom was able to attend church yesterday and was welcomed back into the ward with open and loving friends. She had a few visitors yesterday which she really enjoyed. She has received numerous phone calls and e-mails - all of which have meant so much to her. She gets weepy at times but she works through it.

Don't be afraid to contact her - she loves visiting with everyone and even though it is a tough situation she is very open to talking about it.

Her hospice nurse comes 2 to 3 times a week depending on how she is doing and an aid comes in 3 times a week to assist her with bathing and getting dressed for the day and anything else she might need.

The hospice group has been great to work with - so tender and so understanding and really good at talking through some of her questions and her fears.

To see mom today - you wouldn't know she is sick. She's doing great.
