Mom:

Mom had a good weekend but I'm afraid us kids tired her out. My brother, Drake and his wife, Lijuan, came up for the weekend for a visit. Mom was able to teach us how to play the card game: Hand and Foot. I quite enjoyed the game. Drake - he hated all of the rules!! But once he got them down, I think he too had fun playing it with mom. Us newbies (Lark & Drake) actually won the game against the oldies (mom & dad). We stayed up late Saturday night playing it.

Drake left Sunday evening for home (SLC) and it was hard for mom to say goodbye. She gave him a big hug and kisses and cried - and hugged on him some more.

Mom is starting to notice a few differences - her eye sight isn't as good as it has been. Her fine motor skills are off just a bit causing her to misjudge things and to drop things more easily. She seems to still eat good but isn't getting hungry like before so now she doesn't think about food unless I put it in front of her or move her to the dinner table. She is getting weaker at walking so she is using the walker more and more each day.

I have to admire her though because through all of the changes going on with her, she can and does still laugh at herself. When playing cards and she dropped her entire hand on the floor - we all just laughed and played a short game of 52 pick'um up. Then it was her turn to shuffle and a bunch of the cards went on the floor again - she just started to laugh and commented on how slick those suckers are and we got to play 52 pick'um up again. It really was pretty funny.

Larry (my brother in Denver) tries to call each day and talk with her. I think that helps her a lot.
