The best news of all at this point is that we have not witnessed any more seizures for two weeks now. There has been a decline in the left side, mom doesn't have control of her left leg so it is getting harder and harder on her to walk. We have tried the walker but that takes some practice. You have to be able to move the walker and then move your legs. Her legs are becoming more and more weak so this puts her balance off - something else you need in order to use the walker. Her left arm is also noticeable non-working - it sort of just lays in her lap. We are using the wheel chair more and more. Stairs are the hardest to maneuver these days. Mom's left side has been affected the most, it all has to do with the tumor in the brain and as it grows, the more her left side will be affected.
Mom stays fairly positive in attitude but we also witness a lot of tears from time to time when she is frustrated over not being able to do some of the most simple tasks for herself like getting dressed or putting butter on a roll.
We had lots of company this past weekend. It started Friday with Layne and Helen Dearden coming for a visit with mom. They laughed and cried together and it was a much needed visit - thanks Deardens. Robin, Sarah, Shawn, and Emily were all able to spend Saturday with mom/grandma. They all learned how to play mom's favorite card game - Hand & Foot. Derek and his daughter, Ryleigh, were able to come up for a short visit. He picked Breonne up from the airport and she will be here to help me for the next two weeks. Theron and Heidi were also able to spend some time with grandma on Sunday. Thus, my kids (Derek, Bree, Theron & Heidi) all got to learn how to play Hand & Foot as well. Grandma had a great weekend - thanks everyone!
Mom felt well enough Sunday to attend Sacrament meeting. She was in tears at the beginning of the meeting as all of her friends gathered around her to visit with her before the meeting got started (glad we went early) and then she was in tears after the meeting as she had to say goodbye to everyone.
Sunday evening we ventured out and took mom and dad over to Theron and Heidi's home as Logan was celebrating his 2nd birthday. It was a lot of fun to watch him open his presents and to blow out his candles on his birthday cake.
